Programmes 2010-2011
Art, Music, Drama and Dance
A series of development
programmes in each of the four arts subjects. You
can opt for one or a combination.
The aim of each programme is to support you in
teaching the curriculum through the arts in line
with current primary curriculum requirements.
All programmes include:
- planning lessons for your
curriculum with a consultant;
- taking part in a workshop
to explore new approaches in learning and
teaching;
- developing your
confidence in teaching through the arts;
- demonstrating with your
own children.
Insight Arts Foundation is a
non-profit making charitable organisation and as
such we try and keep our costs as low as possible.
Schools working together can achieve an overall
reduction because of the economy of scale.

Comments from teachers:
"I have the
confidence now to teach children how to
compose their own music from a stimulus….and
know how to help them progress their skills"
(following Music consultant's visit)
"All of it was
useful…..very practical ideas that I will
put into action" (Heather Wadsworth,
Grange Junior School Drama workshop)
"I’m really amazed
at the children being more focussed, more
alive, better settled."Y3 teacher, Pixmore
School, (Artstart5 programme)
"The children were
truly motivated and the feedback was very
positive…..we certainly have some wonderful
ideas we can get to grips with over the next
few months" Mrs Miles, Stonehill School
(following Art consultant’s school visit)
"Practical ideas
with immediate application" (comment on
Dance workshop)
Artstart5©
- a unique programme of 15 minute daily arts-based
activities
"The
children seem more focussed first thing,
which is important, as the way they start
the day can affect the way they behave
throughout the rest of the day. I find that
certain children, who always want to keep
turning around looking for someone to cause
a distraction with, are more inclined to sit
still and listen. They seem content in their
own space without that constant hunger for
attention" (Yr 3 teacher).
(Independent Evaluators Report –
Artstart5 Programme 2008)
A 15 minute programme
for your class at the beginning of each day
using 5 arts areas (2D and 3D art, music,
movement and rhythm) to encourage more
creative and innovative work and better
readiness to learn.
Comments from teachers and
pupils:
"It helps greatly
with concentration and creativity"
"It’s the best way
to use the first fifteen minutes of the day"
"I like it because
it’s like an alarm clock for my brain" (Y1
child)
