Inspiring Learning through the Arts
|
Our prime purpose is
to secure high quality learning in and
through the arts for young people of all
ages. |
Engagement in the
arts and creative opportunities transform
the way children and young people learn and
explore the world around them.
It can change the
way children and young people see themselves
- even what they dream of for the future -
as well as helping them develop specific
skills.

Creative and
cultural education can help raise
educational standards by boosting a child’s
self-confidence and self-esteem.
Our cultural
heritage together with creativity through
self-expression, offers a way of developing
the talent of the individual and their
understanding of a diverse and complex world
around them.

A full and balanced
arts education in schools is essential
because:
- The processes
of making in the arts provide all young
people with fundamental ways of
formulating and communicating their own
ideas and feelings about the world in
which they live;
- Understanding
existing work in the arts in all forms,
gives young people vivid access to the
ideas, values and beliefs of other
people and to some of the most
penetrating achievements of human
culture;
- Through
involvement in the arts, young people
can respond positively to the social
world and contribute uniquely to the
interplay of ideas and values which help
shape it.
